Type Student Housing
Size 12 Stories, 363 Units, 681 Beds
The Concept Designed to fit in an unusually shaped lot without street frontage, the project creates a sense of entry by engaging the existing commuter bicycle path along the north end of the site. Students arrive at the building from campus through a landscape plaza and into an active lobby space. The building geometry is a response to the linear nature of the site and program. Massing shifts and recessed niches were introduced to create visual interest and reduce the mass of the overall development. This also provided a unique opportunity to developed a number of landscaped terraces for students to enjoy.
The façade is two toned rust colored vertical corrugated metal panel system throughout most of the building, with a few recessed niches and courtyards in a pewter colored flat metal panel. Along the building base a perforated metal panel system Encloses the building s parking levels and liner bike storage room.
To further enrich the pedestrian & cycling experience along the north side, a 2-story tall flamingo mural has been designed to run the length of the façade. This connects to the interior concept of “Playful Absurdity” Where where an eclectic compilation of items and images of the University of Wisconsin’s pranks and colorful characters.
The Views As the Building rises in height, residents are afforded incredible view of the State Capitol Building and Lake Mendota to the North and also Lakes Monona and Wingra to the South. The Pool Terrace and Main Amenity Spaces are positioned as to take advantage of these spectacular views.
The Program The development will include 363 apartments, resident club lounge, fitness center, multiple elevated outdoor landscaped terraces, and a rooftop pool. It will also include an embedded parking structure that will provide approximately 322 parking spaces to be shared by the residents and office tenants of 740/700 Regent Street. The apartment property will be professionally staffed, operated, and managed at the local level with an on-site management office. This project is expected to be completed for the 2024 Fall Semester of University of Wisconsin.
